4/3 Gorkha Rifles Martyr's Garden visit in 2013

Time is relentless. We visited the 4/3 Gorkha Rifles Martyr's Garden again in June 2013. The last time we were there was in Feb 2001, when the garden was freshly created and 4/3 Gorkha Rifles was stationed at Almora. This time it was 2/5 Gorkha Rifles which was stationed there. The past 12 years, have given time for the trees which we planted to grow and the area has remained a calm oasis even as the Almora town-ship has continued to grow around it.

The 2/5 GR arranged for the wreath laying ceremony. It was an emotional moment for all of us to be back at this place and to remember Nawang.

The memorial bears an inscription from the Bhagwat Gita which is of great solace to us

The soul cannot be destroyed.

Weapons cannot kill it, Fire cannot burn it,

Water cannot drown it, Wind cannot dry it.

It is immortal
