Siachen Army Book
Harish Kapadia

As I completed a long exploration and my 10th trip to the Siachen glacier, I was asked at the base camp, to address the officers present on the history of the Siachen and mountaineering on the Siachen glacier. I gladly did so. After the talk the base commander Col. R. S. Sidhu inquired whether I could put this down in form of a book, which they would distribute to all the officers who came to the glacier. I of course, agreed to do so and a special book called, “The Siachen Glacier” was produced for the Army, especially for the officers serving on to the glacier. Copies were sent and they have been distributed to various officers.

This book is dedicated to Lt. Nawang Kapadia and a brief about his supreme sacrifice, his early childhood and history and his various high points of his life are mentioned at the beginning of the book. It was on the Siachen Glacier on an expedition that Nawang was inspired to join the Indian Army. And today, his brother officers would be proud to know about him.

You can download a copy of this booklet to understand the war and the mountains of the Siachen and proposal for peace and clean up of the glacier in memory of Nawang.
