Major Navneet Vats was from Nawang’s battalion (4/3 Gorkha Rifles). He made the supreme sacrifice fighting terrorists in Kashmir on November 20, 2003 in Srinagar operations. He was the one that conveyed the sad news about Lt. Nawang’s death to the family. His family and mine are very close and it saddened us immensely to hear about his demise.
