The NCC Award in Memory of Nawang
Col. Ajit Dutt is a leading mountaineer of India. He has been the President of prestigious mountaineering institutes, HMI at Darjeeling and has been in contact with many young mountaineers. Recently he was posted as Head of Maharashtra’s National Cadet Corp at Nagpur. The National Cadet Corp is a program run by the Indian Army to train young college and school children in the basics of military life.
Many young cadets would come for training and at the completion of successful training; they would be given a certificate. Col. Dutt initiated a wonderful addition to be given along with the certificate, a memento in memory of Lt. Nawang Kapadia. It is a well-framed certificate with Nawang’s khukri in original on the top and the entire certificate well mounted and paying rich tributes to Lt. Nawang Kapadia, his sacrifice and asking young NCC cadets to follow the examples set by Lt. Nawang. This certificate was distributed to various NCC cadets who completed the course. They carried back the memory of this brave soldier of the Indian Army.
