National War Memorial

The National War Memorial was inaugurated on February 25, 2019.  The National War Memorial, is located at the India Gate complex in the heart of the national capital. The Memorial has five concentric circles, a central stone obelisk and an eternal flame.

Lt. Nawang Kapadia’s name is forever engraved in the Tyag Chakra (the circle of sacrifice). In this circle the names of all the 25,942 soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation are engraved

The National War Memorial represents the gratitude of a nation to its Armed Forces. The Memorial strengthens the sense of belonging, high moral values, sacrifice and national pride in our citizens. It stands testimony to the sacrifices made by our soldiers during conflicts.  It will showcase rich military traditions of our Armed Forces as a shining example of selfless service to the nation.
