A proud moment in life of Nawang. Before he joined the army , as a member of the Siachen Glacier expedition (1996 and 1998) he met General S. Padmanabhan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, the present Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. Nawang had climbed in the Siachen Glacier and that visit had fueled his interest to join the army.
