Child of Light
by Anjali Nugyaal
Nawaang, when I met this soft spoken strong willed young man I immediately saw how he could communicate silently with respect for the life force.
The toughest time I had with him was not being able to feed him. Nawang and his Anik Spray and hot water, my woolen carpet and his runs with Aman returned him laden with sweat. His sheer resilience got him to the bone to loose weight so he could clear the weight requirement to join the OTA.
Cut to one morning when my door bell rang early. I opened the door to a stellar sincere stunning officer in Uniform, who would make any girl skip a heartbeat. As I invited him in, he told me had come to eat. All those days of starving, he knew how much I wanted to feed this child. A huge breakfast downed with cups of tea amidst his gurgling laughter and smiling eyes. I was so proud of NAWANG.
I wanted to show him off to all the single women I knew and wanted my little brother to be married off. We laughed about so many things. He promised me he would return soon and had come just to take his blessings before he was leaving to join his unit in Kashmir. There are many dreams left unfulfilled, but I know he did well. He saved a life and gave his own.
My child of Light went into the Light 🙏🏻❤️
